The SEO Bootcamp is a comprehensive but easy-to-follow guide to teach SEO and content creation for beginners, solo-entrepreneurs, business owners and their employees how to effectively manage their own Search Engine Optimization.
As I became more familiar with user search behavior online, and joined this information with my knowledge of the psychology of marketing, I began to grapple with a complex mix of concerns, motivations, and goals related to technology, human behavior, and the impact of SEO. I wanted to not only drive SEO success, but align it with a broader mission of mine: to improve content quality that is destined to influence user behavior. Let me break down some of the key aspects of my challenge:
Balancing Concerns with SEO Goals
I became concerned about the detrimental effects of technology use and how it influences user search behavior. While this concern is valid, my own SEO efforts are aimed at harnessing this very trend of relying on technology to help businesses rank on the first page of Google. This tension between my personal concerns and deliberate marketing strategy required thoughtful navigation.Changing User Behavior
My desire to reshape how users interact with technology and content reflects a broader goal of making online experiences more meaningful and efficient. By teaching effective SEO practices, I’m indirectly encouraging higher-quality content creation and engagement.Leveraging Motivations
Using the desire to rank higher on Google as a motivation for businesses aligns with the current trend, but my intention to influence content quality and relevance has a positive impact. Businesses that implement better SEO practices are likely to produce more valuable content for users.Empowering Users
My aspiration to guide users away from sifting through countless irrelevant pages, and toward more relevant and valuable content, aligns with the broader movement toward enhancing user experience on the internet.Ethical Considerations
As technology continues to shape human behavior, my ethical concerns are prevalent and daunting. By promoting better content through teaching others how to do their own SEO with resources they can come to easily use, I’m aiming to balance the inherent technological reliance with higher standards for content quality.Long-Term Impact
While using the allure of first-page rankings to attract people to begin with, my larger vision involves reshaping content standards and subsequently, user behavior. This vision requires consistent efforts, education, and collaboration with businesses. We’ve only just begun.Communication and Messaging
I created The SEO Bootcamp as a means to empower businesses to provide valuable, relevant content to their audiences. As I will later outline in video, this approach aligns with changing the way humans interact with technology and produce content.Community and Collaboration
The SEO Bootcamp offers another tier of access within The SEO School. This is for the entrepreneurs, business owners, or marketing enthusiasts to have their own search engine optimization efforts reviewed by an SEO Specialist on a regular basis. Those who understand the importance of content quality and ethical practices may advance to the next tier of becoming an SEO Instructor—a mentorship that allows a broader impact on our collective content consumption. These individuals will have advanced to become specialists themselves, if they are not so already, to review the SEO work by those in The SEO School on a regular basis. I am looking forward to a community built for these visionaries, the collision between technical thinking and emotional connection, to foster a sense of responsibility and positive change through discussions, feedback, and shared success stories.Educational Campaigns
Although I have been wary of revealing myself in videos, since I’m more accustomed to writing to you such as I am now, I will be releasing video-form content about how technology has influenced human behavior and subsequently, how digital marketing is influencing user behavior. Think of these as educational campaigns that shed light on the implications of excessive technology use and the importance of mindful content creation.Measuring Success
It will be nearly impossible to measure how these efforts will influence behavior in the short-term. My goal is mainly to add however amount of impact I possibly can with these grain-of-sand intentions. Sharing this information in video-form is necessary, because the very people whom need targeting are not readers themselves. This content will not only include digital influence, but also my other areas of interest: exploring value in a sustainable world, and the long-term consequences of rogue marketing. At this point in time, it’s unclear whether these efforts are too broad to anticipate success in any form, but at the very least, my own personal concerns will be able to subside knowing that I’ve done something.
I invite you to join me on this journey. Perhaps you, too, will be a positive impact to the way we choose to influence one another.
Thanks for reading, and for making it this far.
